CanMNT Talk: Australia friendly marks return to Montreal

Canada Soccer announced on Thursday that the Canadian men's team will face Australia in an international friendly at Montreal's Stade Saputo on Oct. 10.

The match will be Canada's first in Montreal since 2017 when it defeated Curaçao 2-1 in a game that saw current captain Alphonso Davies make his international debut.

Australia is No. 26 in the FIFA world rankings (four spots above Canada) and qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia in June. The Socceroos have competed in the last five World Cups, reaching the round of 16 in 2022 in Qatar.

In the latest TFC Republic video blog, we discuss the importance of this match for Canada's preparation for next summer's World Cup.
