Some random thoughts I had on Toronto FC as it has another bye this week and looks ahead to its next match, at home to the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday, June 25 (7:30 p.m. ET/Apple TV & TSN). 

Players need to step up for Toronto FC during Gold Cup

This summer's Concacaf Gold Cup provides the Canadian men's team with a chance to win its first major international trophy since it last won the continental tournament in 2000.

But from a Toronto FC perspective, the Gold Cup, which runs from June 14 to July 6, is ill-timed as it will leave the MLS club somewhat shorthanded.
