Toronto FC take point in home draw vs. New York Red Bulls
- Toronto FC 1 (Corbeanu 51’), New York Red Bulls 1 (Sofo 20’)
- TFC snap 3 game losing streak, but have just 1 win in 6 games
- Deandre Kerr returned to action following lengthy injury layoff
TORONTO – A new month, but the same old story from Toronto FC.
It was a tale of two different halves on Wednesday night from TFC, who came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw vs. the New York Red Bulls at BMO Field courtesy of Theo Corbeanu’s 51st-minute goal.
Toronto (3-10-5) snapped a three-game losing streak, but has just one win in its last six outings and remains in second-last place in the Eastern Conference, propped up only by lowly CF Montreal.
TFC returned to action following a 25-day break and laboured through the opening 45 minutes before finding their rhythm after halftime. It was a nice comeback effort from the Reds, while at the same time it underlined their lack of consistency within games that has been their undoing all season. If only they could put in a complete 90-minute performance, they’d be much higher up the table and in playoff contention.
