TORONTO – Canadian women’s team coach Casey Stoney warned that Costa Rica was a side that couldn’t be taken for granted in the buildup to Friday’s international friendly.
They proved to be prophetic words as Canada had to fight and scrap to earn a come-from-behind 4-1 win before an announced crowd of 10,105 at BMO Field.
Shelina Zadorsky, Holly Ward, Zara Chavoshi and Emma Regan scored second-half goals for Canada, who has won three in a row and six of their last seven. Les Rouges now have a 6-1-1 record in 2025 under Stoney.
