Is Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty set to become TFC's new Richie Laryea?

Toronto FC lost a major contributor this off-season when it sold Canadian international Richie Laryea to English club Nottingham Forest, leaving a rather large gap to fill at the right fullback position.

Laryea was a regular starter since signing with the Reds in 2019, terrorizing opposing players with his speed down the flanks and his ability to get deep into the final third before delivering a dangerous ball or cutting inside into the box. His cunning and intelligence gave TFC’s attack a cutting edge down the right side as he emerged as one the best fullbacks in MLS.

With Laryea gone and the regular season set to kick off this weekend, the question now becomes who will replace him in TFC’s starting 11. Laryea’s departure could be good news for Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, who seems the most likely candidate to fill the spot.
