What should we make of TFC's season opening loss?

Saturday’s MLS regular season opener away to D.C. United was a game of many firsts for Toronto FC.

No less than six players (five starters) made their first appearances for TFC in a 3-2 loss at Audi Field. For two of the six newcomers - Europeans Sigurd Rosted and Raoul Petretta - it was their first taste of MLS action. Also, Canadian Mark-Anthony Kaye scored his first goal for the Reds since arriving in Toronto last summer via a trade with the Colorado Rapids.

What wasn’t a first for TFC was how they failed to earn what would’ve been a valuable and rare road win. Having come from behind to take a 2-1 lead in the 83rd minute, the Reds conceded in the final minute of regulation and then again deep into injury time to extend their winless run to four games in MLS curtain raisers.
