  • TFC to play CF Montreal in tournament final

TORONTO - In a 2021 season that has gone horribly wrong, Toronto FC has found a bit of a comfort in the Canadian Championship.

TFC booked its spot in the tournament final after a 2-1 win over the CPL’s Pacific FC on Wednesday night courtesy of goals from Jacob Shaffelburg and Jozy Altidore. Shaffelburg also collected an assist in a man-of-the-match showing for the Reds, who survived a late-game push from Pacific to come out on top.

“I thought it was a great night for us as a team. We were all on the same page throughout the whole game, pressing, getting on to the end of balls, working for each other. It means the world for us to get to the (Canadian Championship) final this year after the tough season we’ve had,” Shaffelburg told reporters after the match.
