This is the first instalment of a new semi-regular feature series at TFC Republic where we will speak to an Apple TV commentator about the current state of Toronto FC.

This week: Paul Dolan, a former Canadian international, talks about why he believes Toronto is heading in the right direction, the impact of Djordje Mihailovic, and much more.

This Q&A has been lightly edited and trimmed for brevity and clarity.

Before we talk about Toronto FC, I have to ask you about the goalkeeping error by Colorado’s Zack Steffen last weekend at BMO Field. Did you ever commit a howler like that during your career as a goalkeeper?

There were times where I made bad mistakes but never anything quite like that. I guess Zack thought it was a back pass, so he didn't want to use his hands. But I also feel like he's just a comfortable guy on the ball and was just casually gonna bring it down. He's got so much experience that you'd think it wouldn't faze him too much, but he definitely would want that one back.
