Play without fear.
That was Casey Stoney’s message to the Canadian women’s team ahead of Friday’s international friendly vs. Argentina. The English coach said she wants her side to be one that goes on the front foot and sets the tone in games and be completely fearless in doing so.
Canada responded to Stoney’s challenge with a dominant effort in earning a 3-0 victory over the South Americans at Vancouver’s BC Place in the opener of a two-game series between the nations. Jade Rose, Nichelle Prince and Julia Grosso scored for Canada who hosts Argentina in the return match at Starlight Stadium in Langford, B.C. next Tuesday (10:30 p.m. ET/OneSoccer).
