Derrick Etienne Jr is fully aware of the trolling comments he gets from Toronto FC fans on social media. He just doesn't care.

"People on Twitter can talk all they want, but they can't get on the field and play. So, it doesn't really bother me," Etienne Jr said.

Etienne Jr, 29, has blown hot and cold (mostly cold) since joining TFC via a trade with Atlanta United early in the 2024 MLS season. He played in 25 MLS games in 2025, two more than the previous year, but he only made 10 starts (down from 19) and logged a very modest 983 minutes (down from 1,654).

The club originally declined its contract option on him for 2026 after last season was over before re-signing him to a new deal in January.

The Virginia-born, Haitian international has six goals and seven assists in 59 appearances across all competitions for the Reds, modest stats in comparison to the 12 goals and 13 assists he registered in 90 games for the Columbus Crew earlier in his career.
