It’s mission accomplished for the Canadian women’s team, as the Olympic champions are off to next year’s FIFA World Cup.
Canada earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Panama on Friday night at Estadio Universitario in Monterrey, Mexico in its second group-stage match at the 2022 Concacaf W Championship.
That result, coupled with Costa Rica’s 4-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in Friday’s early match, means Canada clinched a berth at the 2023 World Cup slated to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
