Ex-TFC prospect Ralph Priso thriving with Whitecaps
Toronto FC will get a good look at the promising young midfielder it traded away during Saturday's road game vs. Vancouver.
Saturday’s match between Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place (9:30 p.m. ET/Apple TV) will serve as a cruel reminder to the Reds of a promising young player they let slip through their fingers.
Ralph Priso was once considered among TFC's brightest prospects ever since he made his MLS debut as an 18-year-old during the 2020 MLS season under former head coach Greg Vanney. Priso, a youth academy graduate, impressed with his poised displays for the senior team with two goals in 33 appearances in all competitions, and looked like he had a long future ahead of him at Toronto FC.
But that all changed in the summer of 2022 when he was traded to the Colorado Rapids as part of a blockbuster deal that saw the Reds acquire veteran midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye. The feeling at the time was that Kaye’s experience would help TFC get to the next level more so than Priso who was just about to turn 20 and was still developing.
