TFC notebook: Reds gearing up for 1st game of pre-season

Coach John Herdman revealed the aim is for new signings to join Toronto FC for the second leg of training camp in February.

Toronto FC continues its pre-season preparations during the first leg of training camp in Florida.

Here are some news and notes from Wednesday's Zoom media availability with coach John Herdman.

Toronto FC kicks off the regular season on Feb. 25 away to FC Cincinnati, but the big roster changes that are badly needed have yet to happen.

So far, the only off-season additions have been veteran Honduran midfielder Deybi Flores and top draft pick Tyrese Spicer.

Herdman: "I'm highly confident that in my time... at an Olympic Games or World Cup, we’ve never been involved in any of those activities."

"It's difficult, but it is part of the process. It’s part of being a professional," the defender said of his lack of playing time.

TFC opens their 2024 Leagues Cup campaign with a tricky road game vs. the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night.
