Exit Raoul Petretta. Enter Matheus Pereira.
Toronto FC declined its 2026 contract option on Petretta at the end of last season, paving the way for the Italian left fullback to leave the club after three years and joining SV Darmstadt 98 of the German second division.
GM Jason Hernandez wasted little time in filling the vacancy on the left side of the back line when he signed Pereira late last month to a deal that ties the Brazilian fullback to TFC through the 2027-28 MLS season, with a club option for 2028-29.
