TFC 2 relocating to Barrie for 2028-29 season
MLSE announced on Tuesday that TFC 2 will relocate to Barrie, Ont., for the 2028-2029 MLS NEXT Pro season.
TFC 2 is on the move.
Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment announced on Tuesday that TFC 2 will relocate to Barrie, Ont., for the 2028-2029 MLS NEXT Pro season. The club will still be owned by MLSE but will be operated by Barrie Stadium Group, a group of Barrie business leaders and philanthropists.
Tuesday’s announcement also included Barrie Stadium Group’s plans, in concert with the city of Barrie, to develop and operate a purpose-built, soccer-specific stadium that seats 3,500 in the downtown area. The stadium, which is scheduled to open in March 2028, will be the future home of TFC 2.
