Emma Regan among NSL players called up by Canada
The AFC Toronto captain is one of two Northern Super League players to crack Casey Stoney's latest Canadian roster.

Even though it's in its inaugural season, the Northern Super League continues to have relevance when it comes to the Canadian women's team.
Coach Casey Stoney unveiled her 23-player roster on Wednesday for Canada's pair of upcoming friendlies, and included in her team are a pair of NSL standouts in midfielder Emma Regan (AFC Toronto) and forward Holly Ward (Vancouver Rise FC).
The Canadian women will host Costa Rica in a special Pride Celebration match on June 27 at BMO Field in Toronto. The team will then face the United States in another friendly on July 2 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. Canada is No. 8 in the FIFA world rankings. The U.S. in No. 1 and Costa Rica is No. 43.
"Very different rests. We were aware that Costa Rica is far lower ranked, a little bit more unpredictable, but [they're] going to be hard to break down ... So, it's a good opportunity for us to play against the team like that, where we have to have more off the ball and break them down," coach Casey Stoney said.
