June 29, 2026: José Cifuentes returns to Ranger

Midfielder José Cifuentes has returned to Rangers of the Scottish Premiership following the completion of his loan with Toronto FC.

Quick analysis: TFC had the option to sign José Cifuentes on a permanent basis once his loan deal was set to be completed at the end of June. Instead, the Reds decided not to bring him in as a full time player and let him return to his parent club, Scottish outfit Rangers.

It was the right move by GM Jason Hernandez who wasn't swayed by Cifuentes' reputation and past success in MLS, and made a smart decision based on the Ecuadorian's performances during his recent loan spell.
