Off since competing in April's FIFA Series in Brazil, the Canadian women's team returns to action this week with an international friendly vs. Costa Rica.

The game serves as preparation for the Concacaf W Qualifiers later this year which is the region's qualifying tournament for next year's World Cup in Brazil and the 2028 LA Olympics.

Teams are allowed to play two games during this month’s FIFA window, but coach Casey Stoney made the decision to only play one in order to focus more on team training.

“You look at the last two windows, we've had three games; it's really minimized the opportunities to train, build those connections on and off the pitch, so we've been able to train more. We've had a very intense camp. I think the players will tell you that," Stoney said on Monday.

Here’s what you need to know about Tuesday's game between Canada and Costa Rica at Estadio Rafael “Fello” Meza in Cartago (9:00 p.m. ET/TSN & OneSoccer).
