Toronto FC has signed TFC 2 defender Jackson Gilman to an MLS contract through the 2026 season with club options through the 2027-28 campaign.
Quick analysis: Jackson Gilman is a talented young prospect, and he looks like he can be a solid contributor for Toronto FC based on his limited appearances for the MLS club thus far.
But you can't help but wonder if TFC's ongoing injury crisis led to this signing and that Gilman would have (and should have) spent more time in MLS NEXT Pro with the Young Reds this season under normal circumstances. Questions about the timing of this move and whether it was rushed should be asked.
