Toronto FC vs. Atlético Ottawa: What you need to know
TFC and the reigning CPL champions meet for the first time ever on Tuesday in the first round of the Canadian Championship.
Winless in five games (four draws) in MLS, Toronto FC turns its attention to domestic matters this week when it kicks off its campaign in the Canadian Championship.
Toronto is coming off a 1-1 draw vs. the San Jose Earthquakes in league play over the weekend and hasn't had much time to prepare for its opening match of the Voyageurs Cup. So, it'll be interesting to see how the Reds handle the short turnaround and what kind of lineup they'll use knowing they have another important MLS match this coming weekend.
“We had so many injuries that we have to consider rotation between the three games. If you look at us last week, obviously we have a number of [TFC 2] call ups, and the same will occur. So, we have to be mindful of making sure the players that are healthy remain healthy," coach Robin Fraser said this week.
Here’s what you need to know about Tuesday's match between Toronto and Atlético Ottawa at BMO Field (7:30 p.m. ET/OneSoccer).
