TFC Talk: Reds look to extend their defensive renaissance
Toronto FC beat reporter James Grossi looks at the club's corps of defenders and how they did during the 2025 MLS campaign.
There weren't many silver linings about Toronto FC's failed 2025 season.
But one bright spot was TFC's vastly improved defensive play. The Reds conceded just 44 goals this year (tied for sixth in MLS) compared to 61 goals against in 2024 (eighth worst in MLS).
TFC Republic spoke to fellow Toronto FC beat reporter James Grossi, who also operates the Unattached FC website, to look at the state of the defence for Toronto FC and evaluate the contributions of the team's key defenders this season.
