Ex-TFC midfielder Kyle Bekker announces his retirement
The Forge FC captain revealed on Friday he's hanging up his cleats, ending a 14-year pro career that began with Toronto FC.
One of the Canadian Premier League's greatest players and longest-running servants is calling it quits.
Forge FC midfielder and captain Kyle Bekker announced his retirement on Friday, ending a 14-year pro career that began with Toronto FC in 2013.
Bekker, a 36-year-old from Oakville, Ont., was originally going to retire at the end of the 2026 CPL campaign but that timeline changed when he suffered an ACL injury vs. FC Supra in the second leg of the Canadian Championship semifinals on Sept. 15 in Hamilton.
Forge said it will celebrate Bekker’s career at its last home match of the 2026 CPL regular season on Oct. 12 when it hosts Inter Toronto at Hamilton Stadium.
