Toronto FC's comeback falls short in loss to Columbus Crew
TFC lost valuable ground in the Eastern Conference playoff race with Saturday’s defeat in Columbus.
- Toronto FC 2 (Sallói 69’, Sargent 81'), Columbus Crew 4 (Tapia 16’; Amundsen 21’, 48’; Lennon 59’)
- TFC are winless in 8 road games vs. Columbus; last win in 2017
- Sargent scored 1s goal since Sept. 5; ended 747-minute drought
- Reds haven’t won back-to-back road matches in MLS since 2024
One step forward, two steps back for Toronto FC.
Coming off an impressive and hugely important road win, TFC laid an egg in Saturday afternoon’s 4-2 loss to the Columbus Crew at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field.
Dániel Sallói and Josh Sargent scored in a losing effort for Toronto who was attempting to win back-to-back MLS road games for the first time since the 2024 campaign.
Last week’s victory away to the New York Red Bulls seemingly gave TFC renewed hope and a lifeline in a very tight playoff race. But Toronto had the wind knocked out of them in Columbus, falling flat in a road loss that inflicted serious damage to the team’s post-season aspirations.
