Toronto FC GM Jason Hernandez faces Herculean off-season
Hernandez has never been in a better position to affect major change at TFC since his appointment in 2023. But can he do it?

Jason Hernandez rolled up his sleeves and managed to get a lot of valuable work done for Toronto FC during this summer’s MLS secondary transfer window.
Not only did the club's GM successfully negotiate the complicated buyouts of Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi – whose contracts were like anchors around the club’s neck – he managed to pull off a blockbuster deal to bring in Djordje Mihailovic as its new DP.
Hernandez also added close to $2 million US in general allocation money into TFC’s coffers, mostly by trading away international slots that would’ve gone unused for the rest of the season.
But all of that was merely the starting point. The biggest challenges are ahead for the young GM in what promises to be the most important off-season in Toronto FC history.
