Canada vs. Denmark: What you need to know
Canada continues its preparation for next month's World Cup and Olympic qualifiers when it hosts Denmark in Montreal on Friday.
After more than a year away, the Canadian women's team finally returns home for a pair of high-profile friendlies vs. Denmark on Oct. 9 in Montreal and Oct. 12 in Toronto.
Due to a lack of FIFA windows, Canada has been idle since recording a 6-0 road win over Costa Rica in June and it hasn't played a match on home soil since last summer in a 4-1 victory over Las Ticas in Toronto.
"It's a really important moment for us. We haven't been at home for a long time. We would love to be at home more, but to be at home in front of the fans, reconnect, especially off the back of a major tournament that's been here as well, and try and capitalize off of that and play a top European opponent, it's fantastic," coach Casey Stoney said this week.
Here’s what you need to know about Friday's game between Canada and Denmark at Montreal's Stade Saputo (9:00 p.m. ET/TSN & OneSoccer).
