Will Saturday be Terry Dunfield's last match in charge of Toronto FC as originally planned? Sources tell TFC Republic that John Herdman will still come in on Oct. 1 but he'll only coach the last game of the season following an immersion period.
Last week's 3-0 loss away to New York City FC not only officially eliminated Toronto FC from playoff contention but served as a bit of a wakeup for the club.
"Reality hit us going into that New York City game [that] it's been a bad season. It's tough. The season has gotten away from us. ... Reality just smacked us in the face," interim coach Terry Dunfield said on Friday.
TFC have nothing left to play for but pride – and in some of the players' cases their jobs – in the last four games of the season, starting this weekend against the best team in MLS.
