Hat trick hero Josh Sargent finally breaks out for Toronto FC

TORONTO – This was the version of Josh Sargent that everybody had been dying to see ever since his arrival in MLS.   

That includes Sargent’s three young children, who kept bothering him about his goal scoring record with Toronto FC prior to Saturday’s 4-4 home draw vs. the Chicago Fire that saw the American international score his first MLS hat trick. 

“My kids have been waiting for this moment. They've been pestering me, saying, ‘You didn't score today. You didn't score today.’ So, very happy about it, of course, and they're gonna be very excited when I go see them,” Sargent told reporters after his man-of-the-match effort.  

This was a breakout performance by Sargent, easily his best showing since joining TFC in February via transfer from England’s Norwich City. And it was much needed – for both him and the club.
