Toronto FC edge HFX Wanderers to advance in Voyageurs Cup
  • Toronto FC 2 (Bradley 55’; Osorio 86’), HFX Wanderers FC 1 (Salter 69’)
  • TFC is 3-0 against CPL teams in Canadian Championship
  • Reds will host either CF Montreal or Forge FC in final four

Toronto FC was made to work for it, and in the end, it came out on top - but just barely.

TFC avoided a major upset before eventually dispatching a stubborn HFX Wanderers FC side in a tightly-contested 2-1 victory in Tuesday’s Canadian Championship quarter-final at Halifax's Wanderers Grounds.

Michael Bradley gave the Reds the lead early in the second half, and Jonathan Osorio came off the bench to score the winner in the dying minutes of regulation time to save the MLS club’s blushes against the Canadian Premier League outfit.

With seven goals, Osorio became the all-time leading scorer in Canadian Championship history, moving past Jozy Altidore, Sebastian Giovinco and Ignacio Piatti.
