Toronto FC continue to be dogged by defensive issues

Nobody is pushing panic buttons, or ringing alarm bells at Toronto FC. It’s far too early for that with just nine games in the book, and besides, there’s plenty of positives to talk about.

With the second-best attack in the Eastern Conference (16 goals, tied with CF Montreal), TFC have proven to be a dangerous side going forward and have given opponents more than they can handle when defending their penalty area.

Jesús Jiménez continues to be a revelation. Not much was known about Jiménez, who previously turned out for Polish club Górnik Zabrze, before he signed with Toronto in early February while pre-season training camp was still going on. But the Spaniard has turned out to be one of the best newcomers to MLS this year, with seven goals in nine appearances, as he sits in a tie for first place in the league’s scoring race.
