Toronto FC's off-season rebuild continued on Monday with the trade of Dom Dwyer to FC Dallas for $50,000 in general allocation money.
In return, TFC sent its first-round pick (third overall) in Tuesday's MLS SuperDraft to Dallas, who immediately bought Dywer out of his contract.
Why would Toronto give up Dwyer and the third overall pick in Tuesday's draft for a meagre $50,000 in GAM? Why would Dallas trade for Dwyer, only to turn around and buy him out and make him a free agent?
In the latest TFC Republic video blog, I break down this unusual trade and explain what's really going on here.
