The Italian’s highlight-reel effort wasn’t enough to lift TFC to what would've been an important win on Saturday night at BMO Field.

  • TFC blows lead for 3rd time in 5 matches

TORONTO – What do the start of the second half of Toronto FC’s MLS season and the beginning of its 2023 campaign have in common?

Both times Toronto couldn’t see things out and let a slim second-half lead slip through its fingers. Some bad habits are hard to break for the Reds.

Looking to gain some badly-needed momentum at the official midway point of the year, TFC had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Nashville SC on Saturday night before an announced crowd of 27,228 at BMO Field.

Lorenzo Insigne scored a highlight-reel goal for Toronto (3-5-10) just before halftime, only to see it cancelled out in the second half after a howler by goalkeeper Sean Johnson who mishandled a shot from distance by Nashville substitute Randall Leal.
