Emilio Aristizábal's versatility could be a big asset for TFC
"I hope that there's more goals coming down the line," the young Colombia forward said after opening his account for Toronto FC.
With any luck, Toronto FC witnessed the birth of a new top goal scorer last weekend.
Down 2-0 in the second half, TFC pulled a goal back when Emilio Aristizábal scored for the first time for the Reds who went on to lose to Atlanta United at home. In doing so, Aristizábal became the sixth different player to open his goal-scoring account for Toronto this season.
For Aristizábal, 20, the goal was a long time in coming. The Colombian showed brief flashes of what he could provide TFC since joining the club on loan from Atlético Nacional prior to the start of the MLS season but failed to record a single goal contribution in his eight previous appearances.
The Atlanta match marked only his third start for the Reds and his first in over five weeks – in the interim he made four appearances off the bench totalling a modest 25 minutes. Now that Aristizábal is off the mark, he’s hungry for more goals.
