José Cifuentes looks to play key role in Toronto FC's rebuild
The Ecuadorian comes to TFC with his eyes wide open and under no delusions about the team's lack of success in recent years.

It’s been over three months since José Cifuentes has seen any competitive action but he’s keen to hit the ground running with Toronto FC this weekend.
Cifuentes, 26, was acquired last week by TFC on loan from Rangers of the Scottish Premiership. The loan agreement runs through June 30, 2026, with a purchase option.
The Ecuadorian midfielder is expected to make his debut for the Reds in Saturday’s derby match vs. CF Montreal at BMO Field, which would be his first game since a 71-minute performance on May 10 while on loan at Greek club Aris Thessaloniki.
He comes to Toronto with his eyes wide open, knowing the club is in rebuilding mode and that much will be expected of him to help that process along on the pitch.
