August 7, 2025: Reds land Mihailovic via transfer
Toronto FC acquired attacking midfielder Djordje Mihailovic via transfer from the Colorado Rapids for $8 million US and up to $1 million in conditional cash if certain performance-based metrics are met. Colorado Rapids also retain a sell-on percentage if the player is traded or transferred. Mihailovic joins TFC as a designated player and has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract through the end of 2028 with a club option for 2029.
Quick analysis: GM Jason Hernandez knew he had to come up with something big to improve Toronto FC's roster during the MLS secondary transfer window, which runs until Aug. 21.
TFC (5-13-6) currently sits 12th in the Eastern Conference with 10 games left in the regular season and look poised to miss the playoffs for a fifth straight year. One of the reasons why the Reds are in this situation is because of a limp attack that ranks fifth-worst in the league with 25 goals in 24 games.
