If Tuesday provided a glimpse of what the Canadian women’s team will look like when Christine Sinclair retires, then, perhaps, the future isn’t so doom and gloom for the Reds.

With an injured Sinclair unavailable, Canada earned a hard-fought 2-0 win over England at bet365 Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent via a poacher’s goal from Évelyne Viens. Substitute Nichelle Prince also scored for the visitors, who capitalized on a pair of defensive miscues to win their third game of 2021.
