Toronto FC vs. D.C. United: What you need to know
TFC have a chance to bolster their playoff hopes while simultaneously facing elimination squarely in the face.
It's do-or-die time for Toronto FC.
The Reds were riding high thanks to a modest three-game unbeaten run that included a dramatic come-from-behind win in the 401 Derby. But their momentum was halted in a disappointing 4-2 road loss to the Columbus Crew on the weekend.
Now they enter a crucial midweek game against the conference rival with the chance to bolster their playoff hopes while simultaneously facing elimination squarely in the face.
"[The players] have to trust each other. They have to come with the right mentality. They have to begin the game with the necessary amount of urgency, but not desperation, and trust each other, and trust what they've done, and trust what they know how to do," coach Robin Fraser said this week.
Here’s what you need to know about Wednesday's match between Toronto and the D.C. United at BMO Field (7:30 p.m. ET/TSN & Apple TV). This is TFC's final home game of the regular season.
