Canada blanks Haiti in 1st leg of World Cup qualifying playoff
For the first time in this Concacaf World Cup qualifying campaign, Canada didn’t have an easy time on Saturday night.
- Haiti 0, Canada 1 (Larin 14’)
- Larin scores his 14th international goal for the Reds
- Canada on verge of advancing to Concacaf octagonal
For the first time in this Concacaf World Cup qualifying campaign, Canada didn’t have an easy time of it on Saturday night.
But the Canadians still managed to come out on top in the opener of their two-game playoff series, earning a 1-0 win over Haiti at Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince.
Clye Larin scored the lone goal to give Canada a big advantage going into next Tuesday’s second leg in Bridgeview, Ill., which is officially a home match for the Reds. The Canadians only need a draw in that game to advance to Concacaf's final octagonal round.
