Toronto FC will look to the Honduran newcomer to help fortify things in midfield this season with his physicality and competitiveness.

TFC hoping Deybi Flores' 'warrior' spirt rubs off on rest of team

One word has been repeatedly used by Toronto FC in reference to midfielder Deybi Flores since the Honduran signed with the club earlier this month.

Warrior.

“He is a warrior in the middle of the field and will be an important piece in our evolution as a group,” GM Jason Hernandez said when the deal was announced.

Coach John Herdman concurred: “He's one of those players that probably won't get much credit, but when you really analyze what he contributes, and I think it's what TFC has been missing: just that real warrior spirit; a guy that he wants to get in the fight.”

“I played against him a few times [with Canada], and this is a warrior,” Toronto captain Jonathan Osorio offered.
