Although there were no names on the back of Canada’s red and white kits, Saturday’s friendly contest versus Guatemala in Los Angeles felt like the squad that’s risen to prominence under coach Jesse Marsch.

There was no Alphonso Davies on the left side. Stephen Eustáquio’s No. 7 was worn by someone else. But the patterns of play and dogged pressing felt like the Canada squad that looks to go far in this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
