TFC offers newcomer William Yarbrough a chance to compete
The free agent goalkeeper said it was "a no brainer" to join TFC, having previously played under Robin Fraser in Colorado.
William Yarbrough wasn’t used to sitting on the bench watching the game pass him by.
But that’s exactly what the veteran goalkeeper did at Inter Miami – he didn’t play a single game in any competition for the Herons after joining the club as a free agent in May 2025.
Out of contract at the end of last year (Miami declined his option for 2026), Yarbrough was eager to latch on with a new team in order to get his career back on track. He believes he’s found that at Toronto FC, who officially signed him last week to a one-year deal with an option for MLS’ shortened 2027 season.
“[The] reality is in Miami, I wasn't playing, and so I wanted to move out of there to a place where I could compete. And it was [TFC] that reached out to me. And for me, it was a no brainer, just because all I wanted, and all I asked for was an opportunity to compete,” Yarbrough said this week.
