No wholesale changes expected for TFC during summer window

Each of the last three summer transfer windows have been pretty busy for GM Jason Hernandez. But this year might be different.

The MLS secondary transfer window has kept Jason Hernandez pretty busy each summer since he took over as GM of Toronto FC.

In 2023, Hernandez pulled off big deals that saw former Canadian international Mark-Anthony Kaye and MLS all-star defender Matt Hedges traded to new clubs. In 2024, Hernandez signed free agent defender Henry Wingo and dealt away Canadian fullback Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty.

But nothing can top last year when Italian designated players Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi were both bought out of their contracts, Matty Longstaff and Tyrese Spicer were traded, Deiby Flores was sold, and Djordje Mihailovic was brought in as the club’s new DP.

And this year? What can we expect to see from Hernandez during the summer transfer window that opened on Monday and runs through until Sept. 2?
