Toronto FC vs. Columbus Crew: 3 takeaways
TFC shot themselves in the foot with a porous defensive display in the first half away to Columbus on Saturday.
Toronto FC's late-season drive for a playoff spot took a major hit on Saturday.
TFC suffered a disappointing 4-2 loss away to the Columbus Crew as they saw their modest three-game unbeaten run come to an end.
Toronto (8-11-12, 36 points) fell one place to 11th in the Eastern Conference, two spots and three points below the playoff line with only three matches remaining in the season. The Reds host D.C. United next week in their home finale of the regular season.
“This game's over. We need to concentrate on Wednesday [vs. D.C.]. We'll talk about what went wrong here, but we need to concentrate on Wednesday and not allow this feeling to carry over to Wednesday because we have another big game coming up and it's at home, and certainly the feeling is that we have to win it,” coach Robin Fraser said after the loss in Columbus.
Here are my three major takeaways from Saturday's match.
