Toronto FC's Theo Corbeanu: 'Our season's not over'
The speedy TFC winger refused to concede defeat in the playoff chase after Saturday's disappointing loss in Columbus.
Toronto FC’s playoff hopes aren’t quite dead, but the undertaker has been put on standby.
A disappointing 4-2 loss away to the Columbus Crew on Saturday afternoon may have done irreparable damage to TFC’s late push for a playoff berth as they squandered a chance to extend their unbeaten run to four games and move above the playoff line.
Last week’s 2-0 victory away to the New York Red Bulls was a hugely important result for Toronto, giving it hope that it could build more momentum down the final stretch and qualify for the post-season for the first time since 2020.
Saturday’s defeat didn’t officially eliminate the Reds from playoff contention, but it does leave them with a major mountain to climb to get into the post-season.
