Jesse Marsch to lead Canadian U20s for World Cup qualifiers
Marsch will oversee a 21-player roster that includes Toronto FC prospects Richard Chukwu, Antone Bossenberry and Timothy Fortier.
Fresh off leading the Canadian men’s senior team at this summer’s FIFA World Cup, coach Jesse Marsch will now turn his attention to Canada’s under-20 side.
Canada Soccer announced on Friday that Marsch will oversee the 21-man Canadian squad for the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship that runs from July 24 to Aug. 9 in Mexico. The tournament doubles as the qualifiers for both the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Marsch will lead a coaching staff that includes Mauro Biello, Andrew Olivieri and Andrea Di Pietrantonio. Olivieri serves as the men's youth EXCEL director for Canada Soccer and has coached the U-20 team since 2018.
In bringing in Marsch to lead the U20s, Canada Soccer is looking to promote connectivity between the youth programs and senior team as it prepares for the qualifying cycle for the 2030 World Cup.
