TFC plans to use international break to their advantage

The MLS hiatus due to this month's FIFA window allows Robin Fraser to work on some principle-based concepts with Toronto FC.

Toronto FC’s Derrick Etienne Jr has never been in this situation but he's not complaining.

The veteran winger is getting ready to represent Haiti in a pair of international friendlies that the Concacaf nation is using to prepare for this summer’s FIFA World Cup, which marks Les Grenadiers’ second tournament appearance and first since 1974.

Funny enough, Etienne Jr, a 29-year-old native of Virginia, doesn’t have to travel to join up with his national teams because Haiti is scheduled to face Tunisia (on March 28) and Iceland (March 31 at BMO Field).

“It's amazing. This is the first time I've ever had to do this. It's great. It's gonna be nice to actually be able to be with the national team at home, not having to travel and sleep in my own bed,” said Etienne Jr, who has eight goals in 48 caps for Haiti, in an interview with TFC Republic.
