Josh Sargent ready to start anew with Toronto FC
"When Toronto specifically reached out and started talking about their plans ... it got me very excited," Sargent said.
By all accounts, Josh Sargent had a great deal of success at Norwich City.
The American forward began his pro career in Germany, cutting his teeth with Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga while also becoming a key player for the U.S. national team. But it was a move to English side Norwich City in 2021 that propelled Sargent to another level.
He had four goals and three assists in all competitions in his debut campaign in 2021-22 for Norwich who were relegated at the end of the season.
Since the Canaries’ demotion from the Premier League, Sargent established himself as one of the top scorers in England’s second division. He bagged 13 goals and two assists in 2022-23 and he followed that up with his best campaign in 2023-24 when he netted 16 goals. In 2024-25, he scored 15 goals and was named to the Championship's team of the season. In total, Sargent netted 56 goals and tallied 15 assists in 157 games across all competitions for Norwich.
