  • Toronto FC 1 (Etienne Jr 22’), Charlotte FC 3 (Zaha 19’; Schnegg 35’; Biel 84’)
  • 13 players from TFC’s 27-man roster were ruled out due to injury
  • Toronto winless in 8 games in all competitions; last win on April 4
  • Reds have gone 11 consecutive matches without a clean sheet

Mired in an unprecedented injury crisis, Toronto FC put forth a valiant effort in the opener of a six-game road swing on Saturday night.

But the heart and fighting spirit displayed by a severely short-handed TFC wasn’t enough to carry them on the day as they came out on the wrong end of a 3-1 loss to Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium.

Derrick Etienne Jr scored for Toronto (3-5-5) who dropped from 10th to 11th in the Eastern Conference and is now winless in eight games across all competitions – its last victory was on April 4.

The Reds have gone 11 straight games in all competitions without a clean sheet (and only have one all year) while conceding 27 goals through their first 13 matches of the MLS campaign – that’s 61 per cent of the 44 goals they gave up in 34 matches in 2025.
