TFC 2's Antone Bossenberry one to watch for the future

“It definitely gave me a taste for more,” the 17-year-old midfielder told TFC Republic about recently making his first team debut.

Looks can sometimes deceive and in the case of Antone Bossenberry they are very deceiving.

Standing only five-foot-nine and weighing a modest 131 pounds, the TFC 2 midfielder looks like he would get bullied on the pitch, especially in a physical league such as MLS.

But Bossenberry more than held his own during his recent trio of appearances for Toronto FC while on loan from TFC 2, winning praise for his composure and the way he handled himself against opponents with a lot more top-level pro experience.

“When he trained with us a couple times last year, I'm like, ‘Who's this 12-year-old?’ That's the way he looks, so young, but then by the end of that first practice, I was like, ‘Oh, he can play.’ … His soccer IQ is really high and I don't think that you can be an effective player if you're Tony's size and you don't have a good first touch and you don't have good awareness around you and you don't have good ideas,” coach Robin Fraser said.
