The Frenchman underwent surgery to repair his left Achilles tendon this week and is expected to miss the rest of the campaign.
Winless in three games overall, TFC will try to earn their first home victory in eight months when they host D.C. United on Saturday.
"I think it's been a worthwhile project to have explored," coach Robin Fraser said of converting the midfielder into a right fullback.
