FORT LAUDERDALE – It was far from pretty, but it will do for Canada.
Looking for its first win since September, the Canadian men’s team scratched out a 2-0 victory over Venezuela in Tuesday’s international friendly at Chase Stadium.
Ismaël Koné’s first-half strike ended Canada’s goal drought at 342 consecutive minutes – over seven halves of football – and helped to halt the team’s three-match winless skid. Substitute Promise David also scored for Canada in its final game of 2026.
The Canadians’ previous win was a 1-0 road decision against Wales in September when Derek Cornelius scored the team’s last goal. Conversely, Les Rouges have recorded three consecutive clean sheets – and five in their last six outings – and have gone 289 minutes without conceding.
